Our Mission
The Somali Health Board is dedicated to improving the overall health and well-being of the Somali community in King County by working to reduce persistent health disparities. Through strong advocacy, community-driven education, and building partnerships with healthcare providers, we strive to increase access to affordable, culturally appropriate, and linguistically responsive healthcare services.

Our Work

Chronic Diseases Education / Healthy Eating
Our Community-based Holistic Wellness Program (CHoW) emphasizes overall health, covering physiological, social, environmental, spiritual, and emotional well-being.

Systems & Policy
We address the challenge of lack of access and meaningful representation within government decision-making bodies, particularly for communities of color and limited English proficiency (LEP) groups.

Community-Based Participatory Research
In partnership with organizations such as Kaiser Permanente, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, and the University of Washington, we co-lead community-based research to help inform and adapt programs to community needs.

Whole Child Initiative
This child care health consultation program utilizes comprehensive socio-cultural practices to support children and families, leveraging best practices developed through community partnerships.
